About this event
VQC and MEC have partnered to create a monthly meetup that is free and open to anyone, whether you’re new to climbing or looking to expand your community. The intention of this meetup is to create a space where folks who want to try climbing can do so without paying a drop-in fee or needing to buy punch passes. This meetup is a combination social and climbing meetup, so even if you're not going to climb you're welcome to join.
Attendees are welcome to bring snacks and non-alcoholic drinks – these all must be kept OFF the climbing mats. Come meet some other amazing 2SLGBTQ+ folks and climb or just hangout and chat with folks from the VQC community!
Event registration is required but is entirely free.
Note: Attendees under the age of 16 must have a legal guardian present
Frequently asked questions
We will have a number of demo climbing shoes in different sizes that folks can borrow to climb in at the meetup. We do ask that you wear socks in the demo shoes to keep things more sanitary and that you remove the demo shoes when not climbing.
No, this is a substance-free event and no drugs or alcohol will be permitted inside MEC.
Yes, this event is open to anyone. We just ask that you register when possible so that we know how many people to expect and can adjust the space setup accordingly.
Head up to the 2nd floor of MEC and you'll see a large climbing wall. If you walk over to the climbing wall you should find other climbers or the organizer there to welcome you!
No, as long as you've signed it once and provided it to the VQC organizer you're good to go for the future meetups.
Yes, but only if the people within your photo have given you permission to take their picture. We also ask that you ensure those same people have given consent to post the picture online before you do so. Some members of our community are not comfortable with photos or may not be publicly out.
