Walk with Winston: Historical Walking Tour of St. George (UofT) Campus

Do you like learning about the buildings you see everyday; the history, intrigue and heritage of the buildings? Maybe you're from out of town and heard rumours about Toronto and would like to delve deeper into the culture of the city.

If either of these statements are true, then it would be my pleasure to take you on one of my 90-minute tours around the most interesting neighborhoods of Toronto. Ask me anything and I'll do my best to entertain and educate.

What should I wear?

Wear weather-appropriate clothing. Most importantly, wear comfortable footwear suitable for walking and standing.

Are there washrooms nearby?

Yes. Hart House has a washroom if you arrive needing a washroom. If you need to go (even if only a little bit), we recommend you avail yourself of the facilities before we begin the tour.

How far will we walk?

The tour typically covers between 1.5 and 2 km distance. The terrain is mostly flat.

What's the best way to get down there (e.g. driving, TTC, etc.)?

If driving is your only option, build in extra time to park and walk to the starting point. There will be traffic congestion and parking will be expensive. If taking the TTC, Museum Station (Yonge / University line) is the closest (7 mins) and St. George / Bay Station (Bloor line) are 12 - 15 mins.

What should I bring?

Sunscreen and a hat or umbrella as appropriate for the day are good ideas. If you want to bring a foldable chair, feel free as we'll be stopping frequently.

What if it's raining?

We typically only cancel events if the weather is especially bad (i.e. would interfere with the experience even with proper preparation) and will let you know as far in advance as possible. If raining, bring an umbrella (or similar). We will bring a few extra umbrellas just in case.
