About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Join us for Wandering Wednesdays and explore a beautiful 6.6-km loop trail near Norfolk County, Ontario. This easy route takes about 2 hours to complete and is perfect for birding, cross-country skiing, and hiking. You'll likely have the trail to yourself, as it's not heavily trafficked. Open year-round, this trail offers stunning views in every season. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash.

The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is a non-governmental, not-for-profit, charitable organization dedicated to protecting Canada's vital natural landscapes and the species they support. In Backus Woods, NCC not only promotes native biodiversity but also maintains over 20 km of trails for public enjoyment. These trails traverse moderately hilly terrain through forests, wetlands, and meadows. Activities such as hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, mountain biking, and respectful wildlife watching are encouraged. Pets on leashes are also welcome on designated trails.

Come and enjoy the natural beauty while supporting conservation efforts!

Visitors and residents are inspired to coexist in harmony with nature. It is located in Norfolk County, on the north shore of Lake Erie in the heart of Carolinian Canada. Hosting more endangered species per-capita than the rest of Canada, it is home to the greatest number of plants and animals and the highest densities of wildlife in all of Canada.
