Intro to Hand Tools:

You will learn about the two most important tools in hand tool woodworking, The Hand Saw and Hand Plane. Learning how to use these tools properly and safely is critical to being successful in building furniture with only hand tools. You will be amazed at the results you can achieve with these two simple tools and hopefully be inspired to continue learning more about the traditional craft of hand tool woodworking.

Class Objectives:

  • Wood Knowledge: Understanding the basic properties of wood is extremely important for hand tool woodworking. You will learn how to identify grain direction and the role it plays in hand wool woodworking.
  • Tool Knowledge: You will learn about the basic set of tools you will need to get started in hand tool woodworking, highlighting the Hand Saw and hand Plane.
  • Hands-on Experience: The physical aspect of hand tool woodworking is often overlooked. Hand tool woodworking can be physically demanding, that's why it's important to learn the proper techniques in order to avoid unnecessary fatigue or injury.

The age limit is 18+ as we work with a lot of sharp tools and machinery as well as for legal reasons. we ask that you attend with a guardian or a signed consent form.
