World Labyrinth Day is an annual international event founded by The Labyrinth Society (TLS) in 2009. Every year on the first Saturday in May thousands of people around the globe participate in World Labyrinth Day as a moving meditation for world peace and celebration of the labyrinth experience. Along with many people around the world, we will “Walk as One at 1” local time to create a rolling wave of peaceful energy passing from one time zone to the next.

This special Saturday afternoon walk will feature a live sound bath with crystal bowls from our resident musician Laura, who can be found on Instagram at laura_at_the_labyrinth. Drop by for a bit to walk the labyrinth or bring your yoga mat and stay for the whole time! The music will finish at 2pm to provide 30 minutes of time for silent walks. As always, children are welcome at this free event, and chairs are provided for those who prefer to enjoy the event seated.

Shoes must be removed while walking the labyrinth. Water is allowed but no other food or drink is permitted in the space. Stairs are required to reach the labyrinth. Registration is not required, the more the merrier!

Labyrinth walking is an ancient meditation practice used by many different cultures for spiritual centering, contemplation, and prayer. For many, it is a way of centering themselves or of seeking insight during times of transition in their lives. The labyrinth is not a maze. There are no tricks to it and no dead ends. Walk at your own pace, releasing that which no longer serves you as you walk toward the centre and receiving whatever it is you need as you follow the same path out. Our labyrinth is a full 13-metre replica of the medieval labyrinth laid in the stone floor of the 13th-century Cathédrale de Notre-Dame de Chartres in France.

Sound healing is another ancient practice for meditation and self-care that harnesses the power of sound vibrations to promote healing and restoration. Research shows us that sound healing can slow down our brain waves and put our bodies in a very relaxed, dreamlike state. The vibrations of sound baths are thought to help you connect with your subconscious mind, allowing inner exploration and self-discovery.
