Future leaders assemble!
The YMCA of Niagara is excited to introduce the YMCA Youth Leadership Program (YLP), a program that helps today’s youth to become tomorrow’s leaders.
Our 8-week program gives youth aged 13 to 15 years old a safe space to explore and develop leadership skills that will help them prepare for the new challenges that lie ahead. We have planned YLP around the principles of fun and inclusion and will have participants out of their chair and diving into core leadership skills such as working in teams, effective communication and decision making. They will be asked to look inward, challenged to take on new tasks and, in the end, think about what comes next. YLP is not just about discovering what type of leader you are now, but also about getting you started on the path to where you want to be in the future.
Please Note: YLP is a recurring, 10-week program that takes place every Friday from 6:00-8:00pm at the YMCA Community Hub in St Catharines. Registering once gives you access to all 8 weeks so you DO NOT need to register for each week separately. Please complete your registration in the next closest time slot to be added to the participant list.

No! You only need to sign up once and your covered for all 10 weeks. If you're signing up after the program starts, don't worry. We'll add you to our list and you'll be all set for the remaining weeks. Just make sure that you're signing up for the next closest date and we'll take it from there!
The only thing you will need is a great attitude and a willingness to take part in activities that you may never have tried before. And some comfortable clothes and running shoes wouldn't hurt. There won't be too much sitting and listening to us talk so be ready to get up, jump in and have some fun.
The program starts at 6:00pm and we'll need the time beforehand to get things ready so we would ask that you do not arrive early. If you have registered successfully, your entry has been confirmed by email. We will open the doors at 6:00pm, verify your registration and give you entry to the site.
We want to make sure everyone is safe and has a good time, and to do that we need to know who's coming to hang out with us. We need contact information for a parent or guardian so we can contact someone should the need arise. A parent email address helps us relay information about program changes.
Space is limited in this program so we strongly encourage you to register in advance in order to secure your spot as we do anticipate a full house. Also, the on-site staff will not have the capacity to both verify existing registrations and create new ones at the same time so please sign up early.
The program ends at 8:00pm so we’ll need a few minutes after to clean up the space. But we ask participants to please make sure that you have a safe way home and can be picked up promptly at 8:00pm so we can close the doors and get the space ready for the next program.
