City of Gold Coast - ARRC

Gold Coast landfills will reach capacity by the mid 2030s, so the City of Gold Coast is working on a plan to boost recycling and end our reliance on landfill for waste management.

The City is proposing the Advanced Resource Recovery Centre (ARRC), an integrated recycling and energy precinct that will increase and improve our recycling capabilities and divert up to 97% of waste to landfill.

The ARRC features 8 purpose-built facilities to be located on City-owned land primarily in Stapylton. The project is in feasibility study stage, and widespread community and stakeholder consultation will be ongoing in 2024 and 2025.
